Eden's Island

Top Sound has made a great jazzy pop version of this classic song by the legendary Eden Ahbez. This song is taken from the soundtrack to the book I hear a new world: 1958-1962, which has many other great tracks too. Enjoy!

Some Tiny Action

After six years in progress, Some Tiny Action's debut EP is ready. The EP is dark and slow, where electronic pop songs is mixed together with more free structured synth passages that enhances the moody feeling of the EP. This also creates a nice balance between well defined pop and some level of uncertainty, which makes the music much more interesting.

A digital version is available for download here and we hope that a 12" version will be available soon.

Greetings from Helsinki

New mix with folk and jazz from Finland. Starting off with the group Kuusumun Profetta who released the Lp Kukin Kaappiaan Selässään Kantaa in 2001, an album blending folk and jazz in a fantastic way. Later on we have Eero Koivistoinen and a song from the much sought after jazz release Odysseus from 1969. High quality, and high octane bop from one of my favourite Finnish saxophone players.

Stellar Music

By observing acoustic waves of heavenly bodies, such as stars, in our surrounding space, the two composers; Jenõ Keuler and Zoltán Kolláth, are able to capture information through the analogue wave they transmit. Through that they generate sound. The motion in expansion and the light it increases makes the curve bend and changes the frequencies. The period of stellar oscillations extends from minutes to years.

For more information visit their web.

Sun Ra

The mysterious Sun Ra and his band the Arkestra have built an mythology around themselves considering influences from various sources, such as Kabbalah, Rosicrucianism and ancient Egypt. In the field of jazz music he is one of the most controversial figures and leaving impressive career and legacy behind. A career that spans many styles of jazz.

The music catalogue of Sun Ra is therefore hard to summarize, but for me the things before the more free forms of jazz is the most interesting. Records from the early sixties, playing a strange form of big band jazz. This LP Fate In A pleasant Mood was recorded in 1960, but released in 65. The song Ankhnation, taken from the album, is also seen rehearsed in the film A Joyful Noise which was filmed in 1978 – 80.

Winter bliss is not really what we are feeling this dark and rainy january. But it´s not too late yet we can still have over two months of snow and cold weather. This is a very varied mix made for christmas actually but works just fine on any winter night. Kick back and give it a listen.
